BRUSSELS GRIFFON PUPPIES

We occasionally have Brussels Griffon puppies for sale to approved homes throughout the USA. We are here to help you on your journey towards Griff ownership and we are happy to provide as much information as we are able.

New Owner Responsibility

Bringing home a new puppy is such an exciting experience, but it also comes with important responsibilities. As a new Brussels Griffon puppy owner, you are not only responsible for the health and well-being of your new companion but also for upholding the trust and expectations set by us at JOTLIMS. Understanding these responsibilities ensures that your sweet puppy continues to grow into a well-adjusted, healthy, and happy adult while maintaining a positive ongoing relationship with us here at JOTLIMS who entrusted you with our puppy.

What we expect of our new puppy owners:

1. Provide Proper Nutrition

Your Brussels Griffon puppy requires a well-balanced, high-quality puppy food. We have found Purina Pro Plan fit the bill for us and our dogs, and it supports proper growth, excellent coat quality, and long-term health. We have our dogs on a twice daily feeding schedule and fresh water should always available throughout the day.

2. Veterinary Care and Vaccinations

Regular veterinary visits are crucial for booster vaccinations, deworming, and overall health checks. We expect our new puppy owners to keep up with preventive care, including flea, tick, and heartworm treatments and spay/neuter at 6 months of age.

3. Socialization and Training

A well-socialized puppy grows into a confident, well-behaved adult dog. We have done our part to socialize our puppies, but it is equally important that this socialization continues after he/she goes home. Expose your puppy to different environments, people, and other animals in a positive and controlled manner. Basic training, including housebreaking, leash training, and obedience, is essential. Attending puppy classes - especially for first-time owners - can provide structured socialization and reinforce good behavior.

4. Provide a Safe and Loving Home

Your puppy relies on you for a secure and nurturing environment. As a new puppy-owner, you must take care to puppy-proof your home to prevent accidents and injuries, provide a comfortable sleeping area, and establish a routine that includes plenty of playtime, exercise, and mental stimulation. Brussels Griffons are known as "velcro" dogs, who happily follow you wherever you go - they just love being with their people! Be sure that you can provide positive reinforcement (they thrive on words of encouragement) and a warm lap for them to snuggle on.

5. Lifetime Commitment

Owning a Brussels Griffon puppy is a long-term commitment that lasts for their entire lifetime, which can be 10-15 years or more. Ensuring that you have the time, resources, and dedication to care for your puppy throughout their life is crucial before bringing one home. If an extenuating circumstance makes it impossible for you to keep your JOTLIMS Brussels Griffon puppy, then we require the puppy to be returned to us.

Responsibilities to the Breeder:

1. Communication and Updates

As reputable breeders that care deeply about the puppies we place, we appreciate updates on their well-being and ask that you send occasional photos, messages, or progress reports. Please feel free to tag us on Facebook in your puppy posts and everyday adventures - @JOTLIMS Brussels Griffons

2. Following the Breeder’s Guidelines

We at JOTLIMS Brussels Griffons have valuable experience with the breed and we provide new puppy owners with guidelines on nutrition, training, and health care. Following our advice, including recommended foods, exercise restrictions for growing puppies, and early socialization practices, contributes to your puppy’s success. We are always here to help and support, for the life of your Griff.

3. Spaying/Neutering or Responsible Breeding

We require all pet puppies to be spayed or neutered at around 6 months of age and provide proof of such from your vet. This reduces many hormone-related issues, ensures the integrity of our bloodlines, and eliminates accidental or irresponsible breeding. On very rare occasions, we will offer a show quality puppy to an approved show home and we have a special contract for such cases.

4. Honor the Contract

As a responsible Brussels Griffon breeder, we provide a contract outlining terms of sale, health guarantees, and expectations for care. It is essential to read, understand, and honor this agreement to ensure the well-being of your puppy and uphold your responsibilities.

5. Returning the Puppy if Necessary

Life circumstances can change, and if you find yourself unable to keep your puppy, we require that the puppy be returned to us rather than rehomed elsewhere. This ensures the puppy’s continued well-being and prevents them from ending up in a shelter or an unsuitable home. â€‹
